The Esee 4 is made from 1095 carbon steel. With the Rowan premium heat treat this is a tough blade. This is not a stainless steel. It requires a little more care to prevent oxidation (rusting).
The blades are coated to minimize this but it is advisable that after use you clean it and put away dry.
